shorter naps with teething?
« on: June 13, 2006, 14:42:34 pm »
My lo broke her top two last week but we are still having night waking problems. However, I have also noted that her am and pm naps are now only 1 hour as opposed to 1.5 hours from before.
Is this normal while teething? Everything else is a mess so i would expect this to go down the tubes too!!
I have tried everything to get her to go back down for that 1/2 hour but nohting works. She is usually sitting up and playing by then.
Shall I just leave it and assume her naps are only an hour now or do you think it will revert back once she is finished being crusty baby?  ;D

we meet again lola ;D
yes naps can be shorter when teething. if shes happy when she wakes up then i wouldn't worry. my other thought was (i read your other post about growth spurts) it could be a growth spurt. i know DD had a massive growth spurt after she cut her molars. she was eating everything in sight.
if her naps don't improve might be worth looking at y6our routine and see if that needs rejigging a bit
HTH
p.s hope miss maddie cuts those damn teeth soon!!!!!!

I'm everywhere. I love this place. Got an extra bedroom?Thinking I need to move in  ;D
she is always happy when she wakes but often her eyes are really red :(
She's not eating much again but this has been ongoing since she started cutting a month ago. I did wonder about the growth spurt thing too. I re-read the book but can't find anything about a 9month growth spurt.
Thanks sasha's mummy- i was just curious about the nap info.
I think her routine was looked at yesterday and was told it was okay for her age. Just was told not to prolong her am nap as that messes up her morning wake up.
And yes, thanks that does help. The teeth are cut thru so i thought the world would be a better place now but hmm...not yet :) I still await!!

got an extra bedroom if you don't mind sharing with my two stepsons ;D i swear to god they are allergic to water ;D LOL
from what you say its those pesky teeth and it sounds like shes getting more. (not eating much hence night wakings) also DD got very fussy about her food at that age as well. wanted more finger foods etc. something you could try is fruit smoothies if shes not eating much (another mum suggested that-also sneaky way of getting more fruit in them) and sasha loved to eat pears when she was teething (as they are quite mushy and if you put them in the fridge cool on their gums.

I wonder if she is getting more too. I thought it was 2 at a time! She's been eating finger foods forever! I love the idea of a fruit smoothie..mango..yumm..we can share. Great idea..I will try that for brekkie I think. She doesn't love pears :(
but lol at the nap info-I just put her down 15 min early bc she was about to meltdown and she slept for 1/2 hour  :'( :'(
lordy-momma can't handle this teething much longer :(
