I'm thinking ahead but...we will likely start to wean my ds off of the df in the middle of August when he's about 7.5 months old. He is a big baby and started solids a little over 4 months and now at just 6 months we've been in on fruits and veggies for about 2 weeks now so he should be well established on them by then. Right now he is on 4 hour EASY with a 10:30 df. For the df, he gets 4 oz ebm mixed with 4 oz formula and takes between 6oz-8oz.
I don't know how to make sure he gets the extra he needs through the day when he's bf since in tbw book it says to add the extra oz to your lo's daytime feeds but how do you do that when they are bf? Will they just automatically take that little bit more? I just don't want him to wake in the middle of the night for a little snack to make up for it! I figure, if I take away an oz the first night, and then offer it in a bottle the next day before his feed, he would just eat a little less for the bf and if he takes a bf and then I offer the extra oz in the bottle, he'd turn his nose up to it because he's full. Would offering the extra oz in a sippy cup at a meal work?
Any suggestions from anyone that's been through this already? Can you tell I like to be prepared in this uncertain world of baby-rearing, lol
