I know this topic has been discussed a lot. I just have a situation where the nap times at daycare don't seem to be ideal for my lo (I love the daycare however).
My lo is 12 months and today was the first day I tried just one nap. (I actually didn't have it planned that way but she wouldn't go down for first nap). So today she was up at 6:45 and napped from 11:45 to 2:15. Then we had a busy afternoon and we didn't get home until 7:30....bed and asleep by 7:45 (no rocking!) Perfect day.
She had been sleeping horribly over the last two weeks. Not going down very easily for naps and struggling at bedtime. It usually takes a while to get lo to sleep if we don't rock her. (we went through another cold so we had been rocking her again). Anyway, typically dd would nap 1 hour in a.m and 1 hour 15 min in p.m. And dd has never been good at going to sleep, so we've had ongoing struggles. For the last few weeks she has been waking many times throughout the night and 4 nights out of 7 she would wake up and be awake for 2 hours in the night. Today we had no struggles going down for nap and bedtime obviously because she was so tired. So I'm wondering if the problem has been too much sleep for the last month or so.
Well, to get to my question. Daycare has a pretty set schedule where there is an hour from 9:30 to 10:30 when the younger ones can nap. And then 1:30 to 3:30 for all the kids to nap. If I switch my lo to one nap over the next two weeks (before daycare starts), then I can try to make it later than today but I don't konw how she would ever last until 1:30.
However, if I have her stick to two naps and allow her the am nap at daycare, I'm afraid this will keep the night wakings happening.
Hope I'm not confusing anyone. But I would appreciate the help.
Perhaps I should allow lo to have a catnap in the morning (walk in stroller or in the car for 30 minutes) and then get her long nap started at 1:30 since this is what it will be at daycare?
confused.
