Are my expectations too high?
« on: July 06, 2006, 06:32:18 am »
Thanks for your thoughts megsmom & sunshine123- I did reply but dont know where it's gone. Am a newbie. I'm depressed- was complaining about the 1 hr naps- next day progressed to 2 at 45 mins! Not good. So I tried W2S at 25 min mark next day- and she slept for 2 hrs! However today is a different story- did W2S at 25 min mark again and slept 1hr 15mins- not bad. Did again at this nap and slept for 1hr- woke crying and yawning- bucking in bed- have tried for 55 mins to put back to sleep- because she obviously still needs more- but she is still crying- more like progressed to screaming. I will have to get her up now-obviously will not go back to sleep. What am I doing wrong? She knows how to go to sleep- turns over with her teddy and off to dreamland. I know the 1 hr isnt enough but I don't know what to do. Should I do W2S twice in one nap- at 25 mins then 20-25 mins again after that??

Hello, {{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}} to you, I know how hard this is.

Firstly, we had some problems with the site recently, and quite a few posts were lost, so presumably that's where yours have gone. We've been assured it will not happen again.

Now, I'm not the wake-to-sleep expert (that would be Stacy ;)), but I do know that it takes a lot of persistence. It's great that it worked first time for you, but it might take up to a week to start working consistently.

Can you please post your routine? Maybe there's something there that we can help with.

Also, I will bring your post to Stacy's attention, and she may be able to help better with the wake-to-sleep.

Here are some links that will be of some use to you, if you haven't already seen them:

DD is 9mo in a week or so.
Wake 6.30-7.00
7.30 8 oz bottle (usually only drinks 4-5 oz- rest used in her cereal)
8.30 cereal with fruit mixed in
9.15-9.30 nap- sleeps about 1hr 15 mins- which i think is ok-wakes happy-used to be 1.5hrs
11.00-11.30 4-5oz bottle
1.00-1.30 lunch
2.00 nap - this one is the prob- sleeps 1hr on the dot- wakes crying ie no babbling, try to put b2s- progesses to scream- rolling over, bucking legs and yawning as crying
3.30 4 oz bottle
5.15-5.30 dinner
6.00 start bedtime routine- bath, 8 oz bottle & bed at 7pm     Any thoughts- please help!

Thanks for that- very interesting. Does the 15mins in the am really make that much difference? Have to give it a go. What do you think her A times should be? I'm pretty sure she would go down easily if I shortened her A times , then would have time for a late catnap. But is this going backwards? Might mess up her nighttime sleep? To tell the truth, I would prefer if she had 2 hrs in the am and pm and 12 hours at night ! My friend's child did this- guess I'm comparing (and very jealous!) Oh, it's so very hard...
