dropping 11 am feed
« on: July 26, 2006, 09:25:01 am »
hiya my ds will be 7 months next week and he seems to be dropping abottle since his A time increased. his old routine was;
6,30- awake
7 am- weetabix
7.30- bottle
9 am till 10.45 sleep
11 am- bottle
12.30 lunch
1.15-3.15 sleep
3.15 bottle
5pm- dinner
5.30- 6pm sleep
8.15 bed

now its; 6.30- awake
7 am weetabix
7.30- bottle
9.30- 12.00 sleep
12.20- lunch, water
2.30- bottle
3-4 pm sleep
5pm- dinner
6.30pm- bottle
7pm- bed

is it ok to only be on 3 bottles at this age? he has about 20 oz a day in all.
TIA Laura

Laura

It is perfectly normal for your LO to be on 3 bottles per day at this stage?  Does the 20oz include milk in food or just purely milk in bottles??

Calum was still taking about 26 - 28oz of milk at this age?  Has your Lo's milk intake dropped recently?

hi
He has 8 oz in morning, some of which goes in his cereal. youghurt for dessert, 6 oz at 3pm and 6 oz at 7pm. he will never take more than 6 oz at these feeds. before dropping the 11 am feed (when his A time increased) he was having 26 oz a day.

Definitely try the 3 feeds only and you will most likely find that he will be looking for more milk in his some of his bottles to compensate for dropping one.

What solids do you offer?

Sorry think i havent been very clear! he dropped his 11 am bottle  a few days ago so i upped his volume in the other bottles but he still only takes 6 oz at best. solids are;
1 weetabix for breakfast
3 tablespoons pureed veg for lunch then some yoghurt for lunch
2 tablespoons pureed fruit for supper and a sandwich or a rusk or some other finger food.

he is quite a small baby. his weight is on the 50th centile but his height is 98th so he looks really slender. he had reflux which eased about aa month ago. i try to add milk to all meals and cheese. but in his bottles he has 21 oz a day.
