Help with nap routine+early mornings
« on: July 29, 2006, 14:34:14 pm »
DS was starting to have a few short naps so I have extended A time and it seems to be working. Does this routine seem ok? Any advice on the early morning wake gratefully received!

wake 5.30 on/off sleep/cry for about 1/2 hour so feed at 6am(has 8oz-seems genuinely hungry) He then goes back to sleep until about 7.30 (not me though  :()
10.15 snack eg yogurt
1st nap 10.30ish (3 hours after wakes)
wakes 11.45
lunch 12
2.15 8oz bottle
3pm 2nd nap
4pm wake-I would wake him at about 4pm if still sleeping to ensure a reasonable bedtime-unless naps have been very short in the day where I would let him sleep until about 4.30
4pm dinner
6.30pm 8oz bottle
7pm bedtime
usually takes 10-20 mins to go to sleep, can sometimes be up to 1/2 hour though.

Bedtime has ranged between 6.30 and 7.30 over the last few weeks and regardless of when bedtime is, he always wakes 10 hours after (around 5-6am). Is it usual for them to want feeding then? I know I should be grateful that he sleeps through until then but the early mornings are killing me! I think this all started after dropping the DF but I don't want to reintroduce it because he sleeps brilliantly throughout the night since I dropped it.

Thanks Stacey. That makes a lot of sense. Will see if I can squeeze another small bottle in. I changed his 11am bottle for a snack but maybe I can add some milk there as well. I just don't want to reduce the amount of solids he has. I might also try topping him off just before he goes to bed.
