Just started EASY - should I introduce catnap? How?
« on: August 04, 2006, 02:06:25 am »
My husband and I recently started using BW with our 4 - 1/2 week old; until then, we had been "winging it."  Fortunately, we were already on something similar to a 3-hour EASY, but without the catnap in the evening.  This is more or less what the schedule looks like now:

E:  8:00 am - Awake and first morning feeding
S:  9 or 9:30 am

E:  11:00 am
S:  11:45 or 12:30

E:  2 or 2:30 pm
S:  3 or 3:30

E:  5 pm
S:  6:15 or 6:30

E:  8 pm (I consider this the last feed before bedtime, although I don't know if she can tell the difference  ;))
S:  8:45 or so - bedtime

Night feeds usually happen around 11 pm, 2:30 am, 5:30 am.

With this schedule, I don't know if she can tell when "nighttime" starts (although I change feeding practices from living room to bedroom, light to dark, talking to quiet and at night I put her right back down after a feed).  Would it benefit us to introduce the catnap, and if I do introduce it, do I wake her up to limit its length to 45 minutes?  Should I just wake her up 45 minutes into the 6:30 nap?  Any other suggestions as to changes I should make would be welcome.

Thanks!
