If my little one (4 and half mo) wakes after 45 minutes, but is just mantra/fussy in his crib, how long do I wait to go to him to do the sh/pat and/or PU/PD? He doesn't really cry, just sucks his fingers and is fussy. I feel like we are making headway with this, but we want to be there for him when he needs us!

Thanks!!!

We haven't done wake to sleep...the sh/pat seems to work pretty well at this point.  We are in the middle of extending his EASY routine from 3 to 4 hours and are currently at 3 1/2 hours (days 8-11).  He's been doing such a great job, he slept through the night for the first time last night and today he has extended his naps.  But, he still wakes up with about 20 minutes or so left until he can get out of his crib.  I just finished helping him out and I waited until his "I need you cry," which came about 20 min. after he initially woke up after his nap.  I did the sh/pat until he was settled (very quickly as his eyes were still closed) and he would sleep for a couple of minutes then wake and do his mantra cry.  At this point, I should wait for him to wind back up again and make his "I need you cry", correct?  I think I might be sh/patting him again too soon.  It just seems like a long time to let him mantra cry.

Once the nap is over, according to his routine/schedule, we just take him out of his crib, right?  Even if he is still mantra crying?
