Going from 4 to 3 bottles...
« on: September 09, 2006, 00:17:02 am »
HELP!!

I know I've asked this question before... but I can't find the link, plus my brain isn't what it used to be... ::)

Anyway, Mateo is just a little over 9 months, and I think he's trying to transition to 3 bottles since he refuses the bottle after nap number 1... and I think he's trying to go to 1 nap.. yup, it just figures that my LO wants to do it all at once ... (probably just to drive mommy crazy and a sign of things to come I'm sure!!!)

Anyway, can someone please post what their routine looks like with 3 bottles and 1 or 2 naps?

Thanks a million!
Nay

Stacy.. THANKS SO MUCH!

I just needed a starting point, you know?
I can't seem to think straight these days... I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all of the changes in Mateo... I can just imagine how he feels? Anyway, thanks again.

Nay

Hi :D

My Ds is on 3 bottles a day for about 3 weeks now,he is 9months 4days...

This is our routine now as we are changing his sleeps times around.

7am awake and bottle
7.30am breakfast
9.30-10.15am sleep
10.30am snack

11.30am lunch
12.00 bottle
12.30-2.30pm sleep(this is what we have had to changes but it is 3.12pm now and he is still asleep)

3.30pm snack
5.30pm tea
6.30-7pm bottle and bed...

He works well on these 3bottles some days like today he doesn't take all of his lunch time one,but just going to see if it is a once off or all the time.

Hope this is some help

Andrea...

Andrea-
What kind of a snack do you offer at the 10:30 time?

I, too, am transitioning to 3 BF/Bottles during the day.

Thanks-
Pressley

I gave yogurt today and in the afternoon,we have here these like fruit, with cereal or yogurt which I give in the afternoon...

Ds is not into feeding himself,so have tried cheese and bread etc but he is intersted when it comes to that,so it has to be something I give him...

I have read some people try crackers too...

Pressley... thanks for asking that... I was about to...

BTW, Mateo woke at 7:30 today, we did a 7oz bottle at that time, breakfast at 8:30ish, and he's still awake!
He's had juice here and there from a sippy.  I am letting him lead the way, I am watching him like a hawk to make sure I don't miss any "tired" signs... none yet, so since it's 11:15 we're going to do lunch in a bit and hope for a nap after that.

Wish me luck,
Nay

I did that yesterday and it was a complete disaster when it came to night time...Don't want to scare you,but with Harrison he went to sleep at 6.15pm and I thought you beauty in bed earlier but he just had one hour and then didn't go down until 9pm.He didn't have a sleep from 12noon though. So he still need two sleeps a day...

I ended up waking him at 3.45pm,so hopefully he will go down at 7pm,which this routine will be good for me,as I can wake him at 2.30pm and he will just go down earlier...

Hope things go good for you today...

Thanks for the snack advice.  I have found the yogurt with cereal and fruit and my girls love the apple flavor, haven't tried the other because it is mixed berry and I don't want any allergy reactions.  They love yogurt.
So we tried yogurt today in place of the 11 BF/Bottle and so far so good.  We did end up doing the afternoon nursing time earlier, but it meant they took more before bed time.  We'll see how this next week goes with this routine and then try cutting out the DF next.  Yay!

Hey girls... THANKS so much for all of the advice/support.

Okay, so the only nap of the day started at 11:50 (after refusing to take more than 2oz of formula in his sippy and about 4 bites of his veggie/chicken puree). He got fussy when I tried to give him lunch at 11:30ish, so by 11:45 he was in his crib. By 11:50 he was out like a light. He woke up at....are you ready for this?....2:50!!!!   :o  Yup, that was a three hour nap!!!

He took about 6 oz of formula at 3 p.m, had a small dinner at 5 p.m. and was having his bath by 6:30. He took another 5 oz bottle before bed, and has been out since 7 p.m.

Let's keep all available digits crossed that we don't have (a) any nightwakes and (b) an early wake.

I'll keep you all posted.
Nay

Wow that sounds great...

Let us no how the nighttime went.

Ds loves the youart with fruit and the fruit with cereals...
Glad the snack went well,I think it took a few days for him to get use to the routine but now he goes good with it...

Everything went well!

We had a regular wake time of about 7ish, and he waited patiently in his crib 'til 7:30 for his bottle.

Let's see how today goes....

That is great that he slept all night, makes the day before feel like a start...

We were all over the shop today with sleeps, but feed time were the same.

Twomorrow will be my test on how the new routine goes as DD is at school, and DH wont be home in the afternoon, which is what it will be like when we get to aus.

Glad all is going good ;D
