Hi. My boy is now almost 6 weeks old. My problem is that he doesnt sleep well during the day. He'll fall asleep for 20 min tops and wake up again. He only has short sleep periods. He doesnt always cry, sometimes he is content and just stares everywhere. But sometimes he will just fall asleep, and wake up not first with a moan, but screaming like someone hurt him. I know he has reflux and i am giving him gaviscon infant and gripe water for gass. He is very windy. I havent started EASY yet. i really wanted to but cant coz he doesnt sleep even with the sshh pat method. I can only swaddle him while he is asleep coz he hates it while he is awake. He seems to have a routine at night and after I give him a dreamfeed at 10:30 he sleeps usually till 3am or so. But then he wakes up again at 5am and doesnt sleep again. He never wakes up screaming that he is hungry, usually its bad gas that makes him squirm himself awake slowly. But in the day he sleeps for a while then wakes up and cries for boobie. I try to get him back to sleep as I figure that he just woke and might be confused as whether he is still tired or hungry and just wants comfort. But I cant get him to sleep again. So I give in. He wants to eat every 1 to 11/2 hours. I dont know if he has a growth spurt now. Somedays he goes 2 to 21/2 hours if Im lucky. A friend suggested to try and stretch his feeds by 5min at a time. One day 5,then 10 until he reaches 3 hours inbetween feeds. She says that it will make him more hungry so he will feed better. (He doesnt feel long enough, usually 15min at most) Would this be good advice to try??I know im already heading in the wrong direction with him as he only really sleeps with us in the day. I usually only get him to sleep properly in the sling. As soon as i put him down in the moses basket he wakes. He has hated the basket since 1 week or less. There's so many things. The only thing that was quite strange was that yesterday I expressed milk for his 2am feed as he is really sleepy and will drink more from the bottle than from the boob. He only woke up at 3am and for some reason I thought I gave him his bottle already, so i patted him back to sleep again. He had bad gass since that time and was squirming alot but didnt wake up entirely until 5am! He 'slept' all the way without a feed at 2am! I felt sooooo bad though.!!!
