First day trying EASY yesterday..now some Q's
« on: August 23, 2006, 08:14:35 am »
Yesterday was the first day I had tried the EASY plan with my spirited nine week old DD. It went well in the morning, but then it all went off plan in the afternoon  :( I tried to get her to sleep in the afternoon, but after forty minutes she was still wide awake and really crying and rooting so I fed her which was only two hours after last feed and it threw all my timings off! She was hungry because she took a good feed at that time, so do I then put her to sleep straight after feed when that happens? Instead I went to A then S again, but she woke hungry again after an hour so again it was only two hours after last feed and I ended up with EASAE to stretch her to three hours again is this ok? It did make her overtired  :(

Also some quick questions are...

- what do I do when she gets all drowsy and sleepy during feed? She especially starts yawning straight after feed, so will I make her overtired by then going to A?

- She seems to need half an hour to wind down before nap, will this get shorter as she gets used to routine?

- We are using props to get her to sleep of rocking and sucking my little finger. Is it better to get her into the EASY routine and then tackle these, or the other way around? I'm frightened of doing it all at the same time because I don't want to suddenly just change everything, it seems too much to expect from LO.

Thanks in advance!

She is nine week and I mix feed her - she has breast most of the time but two bottles of formula too, one at lunchtime and one at bedtime (long story!)
