Hi,
My son will be 4 months old next week
I'll start on a positive note, he's a great night sleeper, sleeping 8hrs the last three nights! Generally from 9-5, then goes back to bed for an 1-2 but is waking up before that next feeding and my husband trying to get me more sleep has trouble gettinghim back down.
He's a horrible napper, hard to get to sleep, generally only sleeping 30min at a time.
We've made bad habits, rocking, bouncing walking...heck even teh vacuum to calm him down
I did lots of reading around here last night
Generally we are in a 3hr routine, he eats, he plays then after being awake for about an hour (or when he fusses) we head to try to nap and the fight begins
we try sitting quietly, he starts to fight the sleep even during wind down
l lay him down in my arms, give him his sooother, screams and fights, i try the ssh/pat thing on my shoulder will calm if i stand in bathroom with fan on and give him pacifier (is the fan in bathroom a no-no??)
So sometimes he fights so much in are arms, I just lay him down and give him his soother (usually dipped in gripe water) and he calms down well but getting to sleep is another story
So i guess i have some question...am i supposed to being doing the ssh/pat at his age? What do you with with PU/PD when you can't even console him in your arms?
I just got him to sleep now after over an hour! and did it finally with me in tears, him freaking out and fighting in my arms constantly so i layed him in his crib swaddled (legs only, he hates his arms wrapped) put the radio under his bed turned it full blast on static gave him his soother and he finally fell asleep
I guess i'm looking for some direction here what I should/shouldn't be doing
Twice in the last hour when i layed him down he calmed down, but then started cooing and smiling! What do you do in a situation like that?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice

Chantel
