When did you move the baby from your room to his/her room?
« on: August 31, 2006, 01:53:47 am »
My LO (almost 9 weeks) is still waking 2x/night, but maybe he'll be better once he's out of our room???
Problem is, we just moved and we need to put window treatments up in his room- that's the project for this weekend!!  :)

We moved Isabella when she was 2 weeks.  In our case she had her days and nights mixed (so she was up ALL NIGHT... crying)  by 9 weeks she was probably waking 1 or 2 times and by 4 mths was sleeping her 12 hour nights.  (she wanted to sleep her nights by around 3mths, but due to breast feeding problems  I had to wake her up to feed)

So, sounds like your lo is sleeping good, but IMHO, it's better to get them sleeping in their own bed & room while they are still young.  JMO.

Good luck with the window treatments... ;D

Hi clarapist,

We didn't move our LO into his own until he was 6 months old.  We waited awhile because (1) we didn't have his room ready yet and DH was always putting it off, DH finished painting, decorating, etc just before DS turned 6 months (2) being a new mom I was afraid I wouldn't hear him cry at night since his room was at the other end of the house (3) our bedroom is really big so we placed his crib in our sitting room so it was almost like he was in his own room.  I don't know if my LO would've slept better in his room but I am glad now that we have moved him.

both my girls went into their own rooms at around 3.5m when they started keeping me awake too much (noises etc etc, not related to needing feeding!).

we had our son in his room from day one!

my daughter had to sleep in our room until 3 months old due to space issues, but she didn't get better, lol.

kids wake up...it will pass eventually.

i think you would wake less not having the child right there.....moms hear every noise!

We were co-sleepers until 8 months  :o :o :o :o

Some days I regret it, others I dont.

My DD loves her room now. We made it very special for her, lots of family pictures, etc. Dont forget the rocking chair, we spend many hours reading and cuddling there with her music playing.

Good luck with it!!

We moved when ds was 2 months old and moved him into his own room after 3 days - once we were a little organized.  2 sheets worked as window treatments for the first 2 months - actually one is still up to help keep it really dark.  Ds was a super loud sleeper - I realized he didn't really need me so much during the night when I couldn't hear every noise - we actually ditched the monitor around 3.5 months - I just leave both doors open and can hear if he needs me!!  It took 3 nights for him to sleep really well - so don't give up if the first couple of nights doesn't go well!

Good Luck,
Steph
