My LO is 8 months old. He has always been a bit of a rock - not moving much - until recently. About 3 weeks ago he finally learned to roll over, and ever since then he's been working really hard to learn how to crawl. He can get his hiney in the air, and works at pushing up the front of his body. He is practicing moving ALL the time now. He's not getting anywhere, but I imaging it's still exhausting! Anyway, his naps are getting much longer. He was sleeping no more than 3 hours in naps, and sometimes less (usually in two 1.5 hour naps). Now his morning nap is never shorter than 2 hours and his PM nap is getting close to that as well.

I'm not sure what's causing this, and if I should do something about it. I hate to wake him from naps. I tried doing that a couple of months ago b/c I was told he might be getting too much daytime sleep, but shortening his naps just lead to a very overtired bub. Should I just let him get thru this little phase on his own, or do I need to direct him? So far his night sleep has been fine - although last night, he just fussed a little about every hour. But I have a feeling it's b/c he got REALLY close to crawling right before bed and I think it sort of got him excited - he was unusually restless when I put him down for sleep. And yesterday's naps were shorter than the ones the day before, and he slept FABULOUSLY without a peep that night.

Thanks! He woke up this morning after only about 1hr20, which is more normal! Sigh. Do these little guys EVER get predictable?
