45 minute naps?
« on: August 27, 2006, 18:37:54 pm »
Hi All!

My 4-month old son has been on EASY since his birth, and has recently found his thumb and started sleeping 11 or 12 hour stretches at night.. .hallelujah!  His napping during the day has always been erratic: some days 3 naps, some days 4 or 5, some days 2 hour naps, and some days, like today and yesterday, his is only sleeping 45 minutes for every nap!  It's only 2pm and he's on his 4th nap of the day.

My question:  we've been feeding him when he wakes to keep him on the EASY cycle, but he'll eat at most 4 ounces at a time.  We're not *too* worried about this, and it will probably pass on its own, but I'm wondering what the recommendation is for dealing with these pesky 45-minute naps?  We try to get him to go back to sleep, which doesn't work, and we also try not feeding him, but he cries and fusses until we do.

I just checked the FAQ and didn't see anything that seemed relevant.  Thanks for any ideas!

Cheers,

Oren's mommy

We have a great support thread for 45 min naps https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=69789.0, have a look through, I'm sure it'll help.

Like Zoe said, please post your routine (even if it's just a rough one), and we'll be happy to see if we can help  :)
Caroline :)

Hi guys!  Thank you so much for your replies.  I had a look at the threads you forwarded and they were very helpful.  Maybe there should be a thread on the FAQ for those darned 45 min naps!  :-)

Basically we kept him up this morning for almost 2 hours before his first nap, and that nap lasted almost 2 hours!  The rest of the day was still a bit of a mess, but not bad and we are getting back on track.  Hard for me to post his routine exactly because Mon thru Thursday my wonderful husband takes him during the day.  He does EASY but we didn't have loads of time this evening to do a full download :-).

But, it's good to have this stuff in my head for when something like this happens again - just because we'll be able to nip anything in the bud if we're aware of what trouble spots may arise.... ooh, sounds spooky.....!

Thanks so much again, hope you're all doing great!
