Hi there,
My LO is 11 weeks old today and we have been working on him napping in his crib all week. Before, he just napped whenever we were on the go, in his car seat etc. He hasn't been swaddled since he was 2 weeks old - he just didn't seem to like it.
Now I swaddling him, as part of our nap routine and I am working on extending his 45 minute naps. The problem is, he wakes up after 45 minutes gently but then it appears that when he feels the swaddle all he wants to do is break free. He flails his legs up and down in the air dropping them on the mattress to loosen the swaddle and then wriggles his arms out. It's quite the sight to watch.
Does anyone have a similar experience? I'm not sure whether it's helping or hindering. I know that he won't go in his crib without it but I'm not sure how to extend the naps. Shh-pat is hopeless as he flails around and I've tried sneaking in early to put gentle pressure on his so he doesn't startle himself out of sleep but it seems hopeless.
