PU/PD for Naps am i on the right track??
« on: September 01, 2006, 07:15:25 am »
My lo is 3 days shy of 4 months. she is aan angel baby with a sprinkling of touchy baby. I am just bf her and she is sleeping 10 -12hrs through the night. During the day, she has generally been taking 2 naps of approx. 2hrs one in the am one in the afternoon. FOr her naps i had always been putting her down in her stroller sometimes with a lot of rocking sometimes with hardly any rocking ( and there were times when she just fell asleep on her own ). Now i want to get her to sleep in her cot and on her own. I have read PU/PD and i have been trying it for the past 2 days.

My question is is there anything i should be doing before PU/PD, to let her know that she should be getting into nap mode. She is such a good baby i don't want to totally confuse her and risk throwing her nighttime routine down the drain. Is it ok to use for naps? How long should it take before it starts working?

I would appreciate any words of advise.
thanks

my wind down is normally holding her in my arms quietly in her room and then putting her down. Shush pat i haven't really used but i will also try that first. Her nighttime does have a prop - my breast: i feed her last then put her to bed. although there are times when she comes off the breast and i put her down whther she is asleep or not & she alwasy falls asleep by herself. She didN't take the pacifier so she sucks on her thumb, hand whatever she can find.

I will say that since my last post she is now fall,ng asleep on her own in her crib sometimes almost immediately sometimes i have to pick her up maybe 1 or 2 then she falls asleep. Whether this is going to work in the long run i'm not sure because she is not on such a strict routine as Tracey recommends, although we are not bad.
