Calming activities for spirited?
« on: September 10, 2006, 14:47:54 pm »
Hi everyone.  I have a little spirited one that does not know how to unwind on his own before bedtime and naps.  I was wondering if there is any activities that you all have found soothing prior to bedtime.  Anything seems to estimulate him.  Thanks

books were our saviour - I would find pastel coloured books (anything in primary colours was really stimulating) and read them quietly and slowly to her whilst cuddling her and it seemed to work.  I also introduced a fave teddy who would sit with us and is still used as part of the calm down for naps routine.

we found sitting outside for the last 10-15 min of A time was a good windown - we just sat on the ground with  her in our lap (just chatting quietly and looking at the trees and clouds etc)  and then went to her room for nappy change and lullaby.
