Hi,
My son is six months old and takes alot of 40 min naps. Sometimes I can get him to sleep 90 min in the morning but most of the time it is 40 min. He was taking a long nap every morning at around 4 months but that has gotten worse now. The early afternoon nap is almost always 40 min. He has slept a little longer a few times. He then has to take another nap at 5-5:30 to make it to bedtime. Is this something that they grow out of? My friend said her son would take 30 min naps and when he started moving around more he started to nap better. He is so much happier when he naps better. I am wondering if it may be his pacifier. He was dependent on it at about 3-4 months so we took it away. He didn't really learn to go to sleep on his own and he didn't really nap better, he would just cry himself to sleep and this went on for two weeks until I decided to give it back. But we weaned him a little so he only gets it at sleep time and after about 5 minutes I slip it out of his mouth. Also, he wakes up very early in the morning, 5-5:30, and the only way I can get him back to sleep is to bring him in bed with me for an hour and give him the pacifier. I would love to take it away all together but then I know I would end up getting up very early in the morning and I feel safe with it for when I have to leave him with someone because it is easier for them to get him to bed. Occasionally he falls asleep without it.
Thanks
