How long is too long?
« on: September 09, 2006, 16:36:49 pm »
There is definitley hope for those 45 min nappers out there. My LO is 5 months old and is beginning to combine her naps so instead of have 4-5 short catnaps, we have 1 or 2 with a long nap. My question is though, how long is too long? I've been waiting and waiting for her naps to become longer and I fear that too long of a nap may interfere with night time sleep? Is over two hours at a time too long? It hasn't affected anything yet but today is the first day that she has gone over 2hrs. I am still waiting for her to wake up as I type this! She went down around 11:30 and it is 1:30 right now... if it was closer to bed time I think I would be more inclined to wake her... what do I do?

Every lo is different but my lo is 7mo and the most I let him sleep is two hours at a go.  Usually he has 1.5 hours in the morning and the same in the afternoon which doesn't seem to annoy him at night but I've found if I let him sleep more than the two or so hours at one nap or too late in the day he wants to play at bedtime!  Also the reverse is true for us - too little sleep and he's fidgety at night from being overtired!  Can't win!!!!
