New to E.A.S.Y. please help!!!
« on: September 25, 2006, 11:50:27 am »
My ds is 13 weeks old and we`ve started EASY just a week ago. We are doing exact 3hour EASY form Tracy`s book- 7am E, 7.30am A, 8.30am 1,5 hour nap etc. He`s taken to it very well but I`m starting to spot slight glitches.
Bear with me here, I`ll explain...
He was 3.5kg (7.7lb) at birth, now he is 7.5kg (just over 16lb). I`m breastfeeding exclusively. He is a big baby and I think he could go on a bit longer than 3hours between feeds. His naps started well but now he doesn`t seem to be able to do more than 45mins, than I have to go in and resettle him. Than I have to wake him up for feed, seems to me like he could sleep forever! I look for yawn to see when to put him down for nap and he is always right on time. If I try to keep him up let`s say 15 mins longer, wouldn`t it be harder to settle him for nap?
He also wakes up at around 3am and 5am- I used to feed him there but now I just dream feed at 10.30pm and don`t tnink he is hugry as he settles with sush/patt.
Please help!!! I am afraid I am textbook mum and need to see some schedule samples written down!!!
Thanks, desperate mum to Finley,  Monika

Hi Monika,

Firsty welcome to the boards.

By the sounds of it your lo may be ready for the 3.5 Hour EASY.

You may find he will be able to go longer between feeds, and also extend his activity time a bit more.  If you don't think he is ready for the 3.5 hour, you could try him at 3.25 and go from them.

Let us know how you get on.

I`ve tried to see if my ds can go 3.25 or 3.5 hour between feeds. Looks like 3.5 is fine. Now I am not sure when to do the last feed? If I feed my lo at 7am, 10.30,2pm, than he`ll be due to feed at 5.30pm. Is it not too long for him to last till dreamfeed at 11pm? Or should I feed him at 9pm as well? In 3 hour EASY I would feed at 7pm, than do bath and bedtime at 7.30 and dreamfeed at 11pm.
What are your opinions and experiences? Thanks, Monika

Hi Monika,

That is great news that your lo can go 3.5 hours between feeds.

I would feed him at 5:30, and then offer a bottle again at 7 just before bed time, and then do your dreamfeed at 10:00/10:30 - that way you are tanking your lo up.

HTH, Let us know how you get on.
