45 minutes to get him down for his nap.  The chair was again a no go.  He doesn't cry-he lets out a scream and clentches his fists if I go to the chair.

He's cute, but a challenge.

i WAS wrong about walk in/walk out.  it's for LOs over a year.  zoey told me about the FAQ board on pu/pd.  i found this link about pu/pd.  it includes info about LOs over 8 months.

she also said if jake has SA then walk in/walk out would not be good.  so sorry about that but maybe this link will help.  she also said to post on pu/pd board if you need more info about it.

Yes, we like to use wi/wo for older babies really.  Come on over and post your routine in pupd for Stacy and I and we can help you with PD or a chair idea we sometimes use.  If you want.

Love,
Zoey

thanks for the link. Things went great at bedtime, I was out of his room and he was asleep in aobut 10 minutes-! I only had to immediately go in twice.  Unfortunately, that was at 7:45 and it is 10:30 and he has cried 3 times :(

I am still confused about what to do if he is NOT crying when he stands during PD.  If he is crying before I leave the room, do I continue out the door?

Well maybe Jaime can help you with WI/WO in the link she provided you.  I am not all that confortable with it to be honest, I don't know much about it.

I am goin gto post on your thread in pupd what I'd do with the chair, if you want to look there.

Love,
Zoey

if he is not crying, i would leave him.  if he starts crying before you leave the room, immediately return to his side.  this is the main difference between the baby & toddler version - with babies, you answer their cries when they happen.

HTH :)

Thanks.

I feel so stupid sometimes, like I am a clueless teenager (and I am far from that ;)).  Luckily, alot of my gut responses are close to what I am supposed to do with some tweaking.

Can't tell you how much it is appreciated.

It is possible.  He has been taking so long to settle, his time awake is sometimes extended to 4 hours.

Tonight and today for naps have been great.  Followed Zoey's email as best I could and he was asleep, with me next to his crib in my chair within 15 minutes.  He only cried for me to pd 2 times.

I will give it my all on the correct way to do pd for a week and see if we have any improvement.

just to let you know - it took addison and i about 3 weeks of pu/pd.  the first several nights took 30-45 minutes.  it went down to about 15 minutes after that but i had to stay in her room for 5-15 minutes for the next couple of weeks.

i wanted to let you know that in case it takes jake some time to get used to it.
