How to wind my DS down for a nap
« on: October 03, 2006, 23:05:11 pm »
I have a 8-week old spirited baby and I have a TERRIBLE time getting him to take a nap.  I think many of the times he is overstimilated.  I have tried to put him to bed for a nap on sight of the first yawn, but I still have a terrible time.

Just wondering what advice I can get for winding my DS down for a nap???  Please help...

Thanks,
Lisa

we had exactly the same and I don't mind telling you that at times I thought she would never ever nap.  well the great news is that she got into it and now loves her naps.  but back to your question.

wind down for us involved a cuddle with a lullaby sung quietly.  then we would go up to her room and I would change her nappy whilst chatting to her quietly.  then I would tell her it was time for a nap and that I would stay with her until she was happy.  I would give her a kiss and lie her down and sing a lullaby to her whilst moving slowly away.

this worked for us and after about a week she was happy into her nap routines.
