I know you said in the bottle feeding that you work full time and that you are not really on a routine, but could you post what a typical day looks like.  i.e how much he eats, how often, sleep paterns, activity etc.

I also have the same problem.

My baby is now almost 4 months. We are on the E.A.S.Y. method since the baby was born. My husband and I are now doing the transition from 3 hour to 4 hour schedule. But we have a problem. The baby wakes up at 7h00 but is not hungry anymore! I am at day 12-15 of p. 230 of the Baby Whisperer solves all your problems. At this point, the baby is suppose to eat at 7 or waking time and than 11. What should I do if he wakes up at 7 but do not eat before 8h30? When should be his next feeding? When should I put him in bed?

Here is his schedule

07h00 wake up but not hungry
07h00 activity
08h30 feed (breast feed)
08h45 activity
09h00 sleep
10h00 wakes up and need his pacifier to go back to sleep + PUD (sometimes I need to go in his room 3 times or more)

11h00 wake up and feed (breast feed)
11h15 activity
12h45 sleep
13h45 wakes up and need his pacifier to go back to sleep + PUD(sometimes I need to go in his room 3 times or more)

14h15 wake up and feed (breast feed)
14h30 activity
15h30 nap
16h30 wakes up and need his pacifier to go back to sleep + PUD(sometimes I need to go in his room 3 times or more)

17h00 wake up and feed (breast feed)
18h00 bath
18h30 bed for the night

19h30 wakes up and need his pacifier to go back to sleep + PUD
20h00 wakes up and need his pacifier to go back to sleep + PUD
21h00 wakes up and need his pacifier to go back to sleep + PUD
22h30 wakes up and need his pacifier to go back to sleep + PUD

23h00 Dream (feed bottle feed) (relative terms since he is awake sometimes by then)

02h00 a.m. and or 03h00 a.m. wakes up and need his pacifier to go back to sleep + PUD

between 04h00 and 05h00 feed (buy than he really need a feed)

07h00 wake up and same old for the rest of the day!

Just to inform you...

We saw a lactation consultant. There is no problems with his lash on and I take medication to enhance my milk supply. I have enough milk and, even bottle fed, he does the same thing. We was on a 3 hour schedule but started to have really shorts naps in the morning and wake up often at night thus the reason why we started to do the transition for 4 hours early.

He still need to be swaddle in bed and need his pacifier. He usually needs it to fall asleep and to fall asleep again when he wakes up. I don't think getting rid of the pacifier is a good idea since we are trying to put him on a new schedule and he will soon sleep in his own room. Right now he sleeps in his bed next, next to ours.

We don't think he is overstimulated since we prepare him 15 to 20 min in advance do go to bed. We swaddle and hold him till he is relaxe and put him in bed at the right time. Going to bed is never a problem. I rarely need to go back again and give him his paci or do PUD. If PUD is needed we do shush pat while he his in bed and, once or twice a week, we need to do the pick up put down method and put him down as soon as his stop crying. Calming music is his white noise.

I am running out of ideas of what to do. Plus when he have a night feed at 5h00 or 6h00 a.m., I don't know what I should do. We tried to stretch him till 7h00 or 6h00 but he is not ready. Besides, making him eat at six will change the whole schedule and then, his dream feed would be at 22h00 since his last feed would be at 16h00 and the whole problem will happen again. To top everything, it will soon be the hour change. So his 7h00 will become 6h00 and so on. What do we do wrong?

I forgot,

Just so you have all the facts...

My baby was born at 37.4 weeks and weight 7lbs 1oz. He his shy of 10 days of his 4th month and now weights around 16 lbs. He had colic in the past but that stopped around 6 weeks. He does not have serious problems with gas or any other problems. He regurgitates a lot but never vomit.

Hi,

Welcome to the boards.

Thank you for posting a detailed schedule.

From the looks of things with the short naps etc, your lo is showing the signs of wanting to transition.  Have you tired doing the 3.5 hour easy instead of the 4 - this may make things a bit easier with the transistion.

Your lo is not hungry at 7:00 because he is taking a feed at around 5:00 am.

Have you tried cluster feeding your lo as well as the dreamfeed to help him tank up a bit more.

One thing also to remember is that around 4 months your lo will go through a growth spurt so night wakings / early morning wakings can happen.

HTH
