Poop during 1st nap messing up whole day
« on: November 09, 2006, 21:35:14 pm »
Ok, Grace is now pooping regularly with in the first 15-40 minutes of her 1st nap.  That causes her to wake and not be able to go back to sleep and there goes the rest of our day...no routine what so ever except for feeding times.  Because of the short nap, she then eats right before her next nap and can't stay awake as long as usual.  We were having the poop issue 1-2 hours before the start of the day which was quite frustrating as our day was starting at 5am. We started giving her all her fruit in the morning in hopes that it would push out the poop before the middle of the night.  It has worked, except now we have poop during a nap.  Is there a way to fix this?  We seem to be moving backwards as this can cause us to have up to 4 naps a day and she is 7 months old....usually 3 naps a day and she can stay awake max 2.5 hours or less :P.

My ideal schedule would be 2 longer naps through out the day (1.5-2 hours each).  I don't mind a cat nap, but her A time is shortening.  We have tried to keep her up longer and it just makes her overtired as the cause is the first nap and after only sleeping 15-40 minutes it is quite hard to get her to stay awake much longer than usual.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch.
Melissa

I can't say this will help you change her schedule, but our excersaucer often our lo.

The other thing that often works for her is to give her a bottle and a few hours later give her the solids.  Usually she poops in between the bottle and the solids.  Becuase she is not a great sleeper, I sometimes giver her a bottle when she wakes up around 5:00 and then throw her back in bed.  I know it is not following all the BW ideas, but she has never been a great sleeper.  What seems to happen is her system gets "working" when we give her the first bottle.
