How to go from 4 bottles to 3 bottles 10.5 month old
« on: November 06, 2006, 15:41:03 pm »
Ok. So ds is not taking alot of his 10:00 bottle. So I think it is time to go from 4 to 3 bottles. Below is his current schedule. What kind of schedule would you recommend now on when to give him his three bottles?

6:00 wake and 7 ounce bottle
7:15 breakfast
10:00 wake from nap and 7 ounce bottle...only wants about 4 ounces or not one at all.
11:00 Lunch
2:00 wake from nap 7 ounce bottle
5:00 dinner
6:00 last bottle of  7 ounces.

So I was thinking may this would work. Please let me know what you think

6:00 wake 7 ounce bottle
7:15 breakfast
10:00 formula in cup with a snack
11:00 Lunch
12:00 or 12:30 Bottle 7 ounces (before his nap??)
1:00 nap
2:30 or 3:00 Formula in cup with a snack

5:00 or 5:30 Dinner

6:00 or 6:30 Bottle with 7 ounces

Is this what it is supposed to look like when making the transition?? Any help would be great .
Thanks in advance!!

Hi

Your suggested routine looks great, giving the 2nd bottle prior to the nap ensures that he won't wake early hungry.! It isn't necessary to give milk in a sippy as a snack you can also give water instead. Any bottles that are being drained can be topped up by 1oz at a time.

Ok. Does anyone else have any insight on this. I tried the second bottle before nap and I fell like all he is doing is eating. Snack at 10:15, Lunch at 11:30, then bottle at 12:30. I think I am going to try the snack, then lunch, nap, and when he wakes give him a bottle after his nap instead of before and maybe he will take more of the second bottle since he has had time for his food to settle. Does anyone give the second bottle after the afternoon nap instead of before? If so, can I see your schedule. Thanks so much.

When we were on 3 bottles we did 1 at breakfast, 1 at 2:30 as a snack, and then the bedtime bottle at 7:30.

Hope this helps.
