is my baby sleeping too much?
« on: November 06, 2006, 18:08:30 pm »
hi there
my daughter is 11 weeks and we've been on EASY from the beginning. her mornings are fine and she naps for 1.5-2 hours. however her A time is still only about an hour including feed (which lasts about 10 minutes) before getting yawny and fidgety. should she be staying awake for longer at this age?
then in the afternoon i give her the 4pm feed and she gets really fidgety straightaway and teary if i don't put her straight back in the cot. i'll then have to wake her up for her bath and 7pm feed as she's sleeping so soundly. then she cries until she can go back to sleep again. so basically she sleeps from about 4/4.30 to 6.30/7 and then stays awake for bath and milk and then straight back to sleep.i'm wondering if she's not having enough awake hours for her age. would love some advice
thanks

her evening nap seems a bit long when is her afternoon nap?

A time is different for all Lo's if you just keep following you Lo's sleep cue's you should be ok.  She is still young and her A time will be short.  can you post your routine so we can get a better look.

Nee :)

thanks
E: 7am
A: includes wash, dress, nappy change 7.15 - 8ish
S: 8ish - 9.30/10
E:10
A: 10.15-11ish
S: 11-12.30/1
E:1
A: 1.15 - 2ish
S: 2-4
E: 4
then she's not interested in activity, gets really grouchy and if i put her down goes straight to sleep. if i try to keep her up she's not happy at all. then i have to waker her at 6.30/7 for bath, feed, pyjamas etc.

Sounds like things are going really well.  As long as you are following her cues, you are doing a fantastic job!

I would say the same ;D  There would only be an issue if she was up for long periods at night but sounds like she just needs more sleep!

I agree she sounds like she is doing really well. Keep doing what you are doing.  Count yourself luck allot of women would like to be in your shoes right now!!!  It does suck however when you want to spend time with your LO and she is always sleeping :-\

My son was sleeping the same at her age... He was almost 4 mos old and only able to stay up for 1H...
We increased A when he swiched to 4H EASY...just follow your dd's cues for now...

Andrew is a very good sleeper to this day, 2H naps at 7 mos old...and has been sleeping through the night since he was 8 weeks old, thanks to the DF...

Enjoy it, even though you will have some milestones that will disrupt sleep once in a while, such as rolling over, sitting up...but they all pass... ;)

Like us, some kids just LOVEEE to sleep...good for them, helps them grow well!!!
