I need some help.
« on: November 16, 2006, 22:31:28 pm »
My son is a short napper at times.  he sometimes will do 20 min. naps.  he hates to be swaddled so we havn't done it for a while.  the past 2 naps he slept 20 min. and now will only have a 30 min. nap if I keep him on schedual.  I don't know what the deal is.  it just took him 25 min to go to sleep most of the time he was just lying in his bed not cryig but was refusing to go to sleep.  I know he is tired because he normally naps more then this.  any Ideas on what is happening or what I should do?

A lot of times it is the A time being too long or too short.  Are you on a 3 hour EASY?  You can post your schedule to see if the ladies can help figure it out.  From the sound of your message, it seems like it used to be better but changed.  Has anything else changed?-part of the schedule, sleep routine, etc.

Also, my dd used to refuse swaddle too.  Some people have tried (and had success with) the aussie swaddle.  My DD still did not like that.  We lay her on top of an open swaddle blanket (use Walmart brand of SwaddleMe) and 10 minutes into the wait time, I wrap her up without waking her.  She likes this fine (because she doesn't know about it I imagine).  We have found that swaddling her has really helped.  Her arms fly around and rub her face and wake her up in her sleep (and on her way to sleep).

But, with the lying awake in crib, I would think it has more to do with A time or sleep routine or it's consistency.  Do you have a wind down?

In the mean time, hang in there-it is sure to get better.

i am tracking his schedual the next few days because I realized that my schedual isn't a very consitant and ogod one.  we do the things in order, but sometimes the timing is off.  he eats about every 2 1/2 hours, but I've wondered about changing him to a 3 hour because sometimes he isn't hungry.  I feed him anyway, to keep him on schedual and so he will sleep good at night.  I don't know if that woudl be the answer though.

Also with the swaddling, you said 10 min. into the wait time...what is the wait time???

I am working on the wind down thing.  I neer really did it before I found the site and I am realizing the importance of it.  I am trying to figure out what to do for that.  any Ideas on that woudl be great too.
