Waking early due to daytime naps?
« on: October 18, 2005, 09:23:23 am »
Can anyone suggest any reasons why my almost 11 month old dd always wakes early in the morning? I'm sure I read somewhere that the daytime naps can have an efffect on it. She has always woken early for as long as I can remember. I have tried everything from PU/PD to wake-to-sleep but she will wake anywhere beween 4.30 and 6. It varies everyday and she always wakes upset.
Her day naps have always been pretty good. She has a nap about 2 and a half hours after waking for about an hour and a half (although it can obviously vary form 40 mins to 2 hours sometimes). She then manages to stay awake for about 3-3 and a half hours and has another nap of about 45 mins to an hour. I think I read somewhere that the morning nap should just be short and the afternoon one should be the longest and that this might help early morning wakings. Perhaps I imagined it in my desperation to get a little lie in now and then!
Should I be waking her from that morning nap if it lasts longer than a certain time or just leave her to sleep when she wants?

Any advice/tips would be appreciated.

Thanks x
Kate

Hi Jane, can you post that info on early wakings?  I'd be very interested in reading about it, as my ds is a notorius early riser (anywhere between 5am-6am, for about an hour, but fortunately, always falls back asleep til 7am).

Thanks!

Can anyone give me some info on what to do with my seven month old who has now decided to wake between 5:45-6:30 am. He is not waking due to hunger.  I am not sure when to do the wake to sleep.  Any suggestions.  I need help.
