LOng time to resettle once wakes...
« on: November 19, 2006, 20:51:51 pm »
Hi there

Night wakings arent a big problem for us (touch wood!) We have our moments but after a while it passes and I put it down to teething, developmental stages etc.  My LO is 9.5mths and for the past couple of months when she does wake, which can be on average once a week/ten days we cannot settle her for 2hrs plus and then sometimes out of desperation I bring her in to bed with us.
When I try to put her back down after all the checks etc she just screams. I give her time when we initially hear her to resettle herself rather than go in.

I just wondering what other folk do to try to resettle easier?
Cheers.

Does she wake up crying or talking?  If she is just talking, I would leave her be and she will probably go back to sleep.

If she wakes chatting or mantra cry I leave her, but sometimes she crys for a while and cant resettle herself, so I go to her and check everything...

If my son cries out and can't resettle, I go in, make sure he still has his lovey, then do shh/pat.  Also, PU/PD works for a lot people.
