extend time between night feeds
« on: November 26, 2006, 14:23:52 pm »
My 15 weeks old son (which has reflux) still wakes 2 or 3 times at night for a feed. I already dreamfeed, and after this he wants to eat every 3 hours. Any ideas on how to extend time between these feeds? I already tried the paci, it works for a very short while but he really is hungry so in the end I feed him... Thanx!

At 15 weeks it's totally normal for him to need at least one, probably two night feeds. And refluxers tend to want to eat more often because it soothes the pain. Personally I would feed twice and offer water one other time. Does he take a full feed each of those three times?

I agree with him being a refluxer it sounds like he is right where he should be. Try the paci or pat/shh to settle first but if he's trully hungry feed him. He'll drop the feeds when he is ready.

hi, sorry for late response, was ill yesterday. He does take a full feed every time, so I guess he needs it and it's best to wait until he drops the night feeds. The paci helps sometimes but no longer than half an hour later he'll still want to eat. So I just follow his needs on this! Thanks!

Going to lock this thread because the same issue is being handled in the breastfeeding forum.
