Starting fruits after juice
« on: December 12, 2006, 15:19:31 pm »
I have a question about starting fruits.  I just bought one jar of pears and one of applesauce for my little one.  He has always struggled with constipation, so we've been giving him a splash of juice (we've used both pear and apple among others) in each of his bottles since he was just over 2 months old.

Tonight I plan on giving him solids (other than cereal) for the first time.  Can I give him squash and pears on the first time?  My thinking is that if he's fine with pear juice, he should be fine with pears.

Any thoughts?

Cindy:
I would think that would be more than fine.  It doesn't really take much food to show an allergy...so your lo is probably ok in this instance.

You can introduce new foods in this same way...give your lo some new food plain, or mix with a proven cereal or another fruit or veggie.

Hope your lo likes the squash!

Great!  That sounds like a plan!

Thanks
