what to do if cried through nap?

DS is 6mo and I just started EASY yesterday. Morning nap went without too much fuss. As the 2nd one, he pretty much cried the whole time. He would start falling asleep then cry. I picked him at the feeding mark. My question is what do I do then, after nursing? since he missed his nap. Yesterday he just stayed awake until his catnap at 5:30pm.
We have a somewhat routine that I did around DD:
7am   wake up and nurse
9am  bf to sleep (so that I keep an eye on DD)
11am   wake up and nurse
1:30   put to sleep DD and DS
3:30-4pm  wake and nurse
6pm  nurse and catnap
8:30 burse and bedtime
then he pretty much wakes up every hr or two
I really wants to eliminate the night wakings and nurse to sleep

Hello, just wondering, how was he when he was crying through this nap? Did it seem like he was overtired at all - rubbing eyes/etc?

I ask b/c if he's having such trouble during the night, perhaps he is too tired come the afternoon and it descends into upset. How do you feel it would go if you started to put him down for a nap a little earlier? Or even make his wind-down longer, so less of the A time is stimulation for him.
