Nap Problems with 5.5 month old
« on: December 14, 2006, 22:34:39 pm »
Hello.
I have a baby boy who is almost 5.5 months and his naps are almost always 20mins. long.  He then stays awake for 30-45 mins. and then does another 20 min. nap.  This is the same for his a.m. nap, his p.m. nap and his early evening nap (nap #3 doesn't bother me if it's only 20 mins.)  Fortunately he is a good night sleeper.  Any suggestions -- I thought 45 min. naps were difficult with my daughter, but these 20min. naps are really getting to me.  Any suggestions???
Here is our schedule and he does use a paci in the daytime naps (which is always pulls out!!)

Wake- 8:15am
BF- 8:30  followed by some cereal
Nap #1 - at 10:00amish (always wakes within 20 mins.)  Makes noise in crib until he finally falls back for yet another 20 mins.
BF -12:00
Nap#2- 2:00 (same 20 min issue)
BF- 4:00
Nap#3 - 6:00-6:20
Night Routine - 7:30 (Bath, Books, BF)
Bed at 8:00pm -- sleeps until feed at 5:00am and returns to sleep until 8:15am

THANKS!!

How long has this been going on? I am thinking perhaps you may need to extend the morning awake time a little. The reason for the 2nd nap being short could be he is overtired due to short AM nap.

Hi.
This has been going on for the last couple of weeks, before then we could get at least 45 mins out of him.  I will try to extend his a.m. awake time.Thanks.
