What happens when he is acting tired and you change his activity to something different - meaning could he be bored sometimes?  Yes, changing activities works sometimes.  But I'm talking he's looking tired while eating breakfast, etc.

Is he sleeping through the night all the way with out interuption? Yes, providing teeth aren't bothering him, not sick, etc.

You still have no props right? Right, although we are doing pd again because I had fallen into the trap of shh/patting him to sleep again  :-[

How long is your wind down these days? Usually about 5 min

Is he getting sleep before any naps like in the car dropping off DD anything like that?  Even 5m could be important.  No.

What did you do if anything to go from 30m nap to 40m nap?  The only thing is the pd so I'm not helping him AT ALL (except being in the room pd).  That's probably how he's making it one sleep cycle instead of 30 min.

Shimzy, I actually am a bit of a clock-watcher because he either shows sleepy signs too early, or not at all.

The 40 min naps seem to be in the morning (at least for now).  The past 2 days he has had a 1h 20min afternoon nap  ;D.  I wouldn't even be worried about the 40 min ones if I could push his day back so he didn't have such an early bedtime.  Maybe I just need to relax about the whole thing, and just play with his A time a bit ;)

Yes, perhaps you should!  ;D

I had this wild idea while I was reading through again.  Have you ever tried an insanely short A time before the first nap?  My thats what he needs.  I have read posts where some babies, even into a year can't get past 2h or A time, before the first nap but can do like 4h after lol.  It really doesn't make a whole lotta sense to me why that would be what he needs, but heck - you have tried so many things - MAYBE that is what he wants?

You know Im doing the 2-1 nap thingy - to do this I had to start putting Owen down for his first nap at 930 instead of 10-1015 - I thought there was NO way he'd sleep.  After 1 day of him laying there talking for 30m, and the next 15m - he sleeps now the moment his precious head hits the mattress, at 930am.  So maybe try a really crazy early A time before that first nap and see how that goes.  Then MAYBE if that nap is great the next will be great too.  Remember to limit day sleep too though, 3-3.5h is 'average' daysleep at 10m.

I'll keep thinking!

...its what you do when you get back up.

M and N's mom.  Your problems sound just like mine.  Night time is fine, no props, extra car ride naps, etc. but nap time is the problem.  You at least get a longer afternoon nap.  Mine is still consistantly waking at 35 min.

She did really well today, totaling 14 hrs of sleep.  FINALLY!!! ;D

So we'll see how that effects tomorrow.  Either she's overtired or undertired.  I guess i'll find otu tomorrow
