not sure if this is the right place to post but we just went for our 1 year check up an dmy little girl is only 17 lbs, which is like the 5% and 75% in height. she has gone from 25% at6 months to 15 % at 9 months to 5 %.

my issue she eats like a pig, she has 4 4 oz bottles of milk a day and she eats 3 full meals of baby food and table food.. i don't know if i could do anything more. the doctor is concerned but i am not i think she is just going to be a little girl. can any help with suggestions on high caloric things for her to eat. we now have to go ecvery month for weight check ups..

We're the other extreme I'm afraid (ds is 10mo and 28lbs) and we get the same weight hassle from the hv.

What did your dd weigh at birth?

I reckon if they're healthy, happy, eating, peeing and pooping there can't be that much wrong.

My friend's little girls were both 17-18lbs at 1yr and they are now two and five and gorgeous little girls.  I'm sure your dd will be just the same.

Sorry i can't be more helpful but sending a hug, sounds like you're doing great.

Hello! Can you post her feeding schedule/how much she eats per "meal"? I work with kids who are underweight/have feeding issues, and typically the doctors become concerns when you LO drops percentile wise. If she was born in the 5th or 10th percentile and stays at that percentile, then that is typically OK, she just may be a smaller child. But if she is progressively dropping percentile wise, that is when concerns sometimes arise.

If you are concerned, you could consult wiht a pediatric nutritionist. They can give you some tips to "fatten up" the foods that you are already giving her without adding alot amount wise. They can also recommend foods to try that will give you more "bang for your buck" as far as calories. There are also supplement such as duocal (a powder) that you can add to food to give more calories...

My dd2 was/is the same way.  She dropped from 50 to 25 to 3 (at one year).  The doctor was not concerned (as she was eating well and active)  but wanted to keep an eye on it.  I wasn't concerned in the least.

At her 15 month appointment, she leveled off at the 5 percentile and the doctor was pleased about that.  I would keep doing what you are doing.  See what happens in the next month.  And remember, you always have the right to a second opinion  ;)

Proud to have breastfed for a combined total of 35 months

dd is the same as Rachel's - started over 50%, now at 14 months she's 18 lb 12 oz - around 3%. She's not a great fan of eating, sometimes does great, sometimes not.

My doctor's attitude is that if she's not lethargic, doesn't give the impression that something's really not right, then not to worry. No child starved infront of a full plate of food. It's really just the worst feeling though when your very little child refuses to eat. Getting stressed about it just seems to make things worse though.
