Hi Ladies, hoping I could join in, I just posted in another page as well but thought I'd ask for some feedback here as well.  MY DS is 4 months old and I have the opposite problem, hes been a tummy sleeper for 2  1/2 months but has just learned to roll to his back especially at the 45 min mark during naps.

He doesnt scream or get upset, but it wakes him up and all of the intersting things to look at apparantly distract him from the sleep at hand!!!  If i leave him on his back, he just plays (well blows bubbles, talks, etc!!) or will eventually start to cry but wont fall asleep unless I flip him on his tummy and shh/pat.

Do you think that I should continue flipping to his tummy or should I try and teach him to fall asleep on his back now??!!

Shelly

Hi  Shelly,
it's funny how babies are so different & what their preferences are :)
from my experience, when my LO was "flipping", I was constantly turning him back over to his original position...this I found exhausting so I tried it the other way & soothed him in the position he was in...
I found it working way better!! & Quin now sleeps more on his side/tummy & i'm not continuously going in to "flip" anymore
maybe try it with your LO (start during naps vs middle of the night) & see how soothing him the position he's in will work
also...could your LO by chance be overtired that he's rolling/waking at the 45min mark?  ???
I found my LO would roll/move around more in his crib when he was overtired & would always wake at the 40-45min mark...so I made sure he had a good wind down prior to his naps & bedtime..for him it definitely improved & he was more settled
HTH
let us know how it goes

Hi Pam, we've been playing with his A time, hes now at 1hr 30-35mins with wind down included.  Before he started rolling over I found that by increasing his A time he settled easier before and after waking at 45 mins, so part of it could have been he wasnt tired enough.  With that said, we have always struggled with waking at 45 mins so today I actually tried W2S at 30 mins and so far so good, he's been asleep for 1hr 20 mins straight... keeping my fingers crossed.

I do plan to try settling him to sleep on his back during naps to try and get him used to back sleeping as well.

Will keep you posted.
