How to do "wake to sleep" with a 14 months?
« on: January 18, 2007, 16:51:48 pm »
Hello,
My LO has always been a short napper, but for the last 2 months his 2 naps, each one of them is 30-40 minutes. He wakes up very grumpy...
During the night he sleeps very well, at least 11 hrs...
He wakes up 6:00-6:30,
1st nap - no later than 10:30
2nd nap - around 3:00

I don't think he's ready yet for one nap, I've tried, and It didn't work.
I understand I need to sneak into his room after 25-30 minutes, but what exactly to do???

Thanks for your help!

Lahav's Mom.

I'm not sure if Wake to Sleep is the answer, but if you are sure that it is habitual and that it will work then it should be dne an hour before you think that he will wake and go into his room, rub belly, jostle him jently, put dummy in, anything to gently stir him, then leave.  By waking him early you should be able to disrupt a pattern that he has built.  I'm not sure if it will work for naps, but it's generally used for habit waking during the night.

HTH

When you say that you tried switching to 1 nap, whaat happened?

What do you mean "it should be done an hour before...",?
He sleeps only 30-40 min...

I tried switching gradually to 1 nap 6 weeks ago, I put him down around 12:00, and then he would sleep a little bit less than an hour...
But he is so tired around 10:00 am, yawning and rubbing eyes...

Thanks much!

As I said, I don't know if it will work for naps.  I think that it could be that 2-1 switch is due, could you post our routine, and how long has this been happening?
