Bath time tantrums

Everytime I bathe my 4 week old baby, he makes a tantrum.  What should I do in order for bath time to be pleasant for him?

Awww bless him
seems like ages when Sasha was that young!
Anyways i always had a problem giving sasha a bath as she was so sml she got cold very quickly.also i'd make sure she wasn;t too tired when we gave her a bath.
best thing i can suggest is have a bath with him.he'll have the body warnth from you and the security.

My lo used to scream and cry only after we took her out of the water and also when we were dressing her. Sometimes she'd be so upset that she'd get sick so I'd have to start all over again! This was somewhat resolved when I would sing to her- she'd start to whinge once out of the water but then I'd bundle her in her towel and make her feel snug. That's when I started to sing silly little songs just to distract her (not to mention, out of my desperation too!). She'd still whinge a little but at least I'd get some smiles out of her... Give the singing a go...

Also, if you're filling a tub, let your lo hear the water as the sound tends to soothe babies...

What are you bathing him in?  Something is not making him happy and he's just letting you know the only way he knows how.  We've always used a cushion in the bath that absorbs the water - the way the girls don't slip around and they're on something warm instead of a cold plastic tub.  Some babies just take awhile to get used to being naked or being in water too.

1) when you put him in put his feet in first so he knows what's coming
2) Make sure you're holding him securely
3) if you're using a baby bath make sure his feet are touching the end, it's all down to how safe they feel
4) using a flannel/cloth wet it with the warm water and place over his tummy, like a blanket, and then using a sponge keep squeezing warm water over the flannel - again it's all down to them feeling safe.
5) i would always talk quietly and calmly just so my lo knew this was a nice time..... the squealing and kicking happens now!!! ;D

we did all of the above for a good few weeks and our lo has loved his bath from day 1... i hope this helps... let us know how you get on x

I learned that bathing him with his socks on, makes him feel secure and at ease.  So I leave the socks on and the last thing to be cleaned are his feet.  That way he does not feel so cold.

I had that problem when Kubko was really tiny, and then my friend came over and bathed him (she's been a nanny for ages for tons of babies/kids) and he was completely calm with him! She made sure to keep scooping water over him to keep him warm and also what pps have told you.  I thought we were doing all that, but the scooping water continously, I remember thinking that was something I learned.  So long ago now...
Also, we used a space heater in the bathroom to keep it very warm for afterwards.
No no matter what kind of day we've had, he's always happy in the bath, and even if he slips in there and bumps his head, he NEVER cries there.  Strange boy :)  He only cries when I take him out :(
Good luck!!
