our 12-week-old daughter generally sleeps pretty well at night. for a couple of weeks, she was waking up twice at night, and then for two nights, she woke only once. but last night, from midnight on, she has been waking every 1-2 hours! she's never done this before and there was nothing yesterday that was unusual in any way. what could it be?? the only thing we could really think of was maybe MAYBE she was teething, but she is not even quite 3-months.
here is what a fairly normal routine looks like (she has 45-minute naps and we are working to extend her awake-time and will try w2s today to see if that helps extend her naps):
wake 7 AM (sometimes I will wake her up if she doesn't wake up on her own by 7:30)
E 3 oz. EBM
A
S 8:15 AM-10:15 AM (she will have one long nap a day, often in the morning, which I usually wake her from after 1.5-2 hours)
E 4 oz. EBM
A
S 11:45 AM-12:30 PM
E 3-4 oz. EBM
A
S 2 PM-2:45 PM
E 2-3 oz. EBM plus 1-2 oz. F (I have to supplment, I can't produce enough)
A
S 4:15-5 PM
E 1-2 oz. B 2-3 F
A play, bath time, read story, sometimes feed
S between 6:30 and 7 PM
dreamfeed between 9:30 and 10 PM (usually 1-2 ounces of F)
W: between 2 or 3 AM for 30 minutes, BF on one side till she drops off (maybe 5-10 minutes) then about 2 oz F. usually awake for 30 minutes or so.
however, last night, she went to bed at 6:40 PM after her normal routine. we did a dreamfeed at 11 (we had a late night) where she ate 1.5 ounces of forumula. she woke up at midnight, so we fed her (BF for about 5 or 10 minutes, then had only a little bit of F, maybe .5 ounces? I can't remember!). then we changed he diaper. she was down in about 30 minutes.
she woke again around 1:30 or 2. we tried feeding her again, but did not change her diaper.
then she woke at 3-ish. I BF her, but did not do forumula (I don't think..sorry, it's already getting super fuzzy!). then my husband walked her around to put her back to sleep.
she woke again at 5:15 or so. this time, I just walked around with her on my shoulder. she sucked a little on my shoulder (which she sometimes does) and took the pacifier. went down after about 20 minutes.
could it be teething?? we have never had a night like this! sorry this is so long, but we are surprised by our amazing lack of sleep (and our LO's for that matter).
thank you in advance!
