I saw in the FAQs that 4 month old babies need either 2 3hr naps (totaling 6 hrs of day sleep) or 2 2hr naps and a 45 min catnap (totaling 4 hrs and 45 min of day sleep). Is that difference just to account for different personalities of babies?
My triplets get up around 7 or 7:30 and take a good 2 hr nap at 9-ish. Then I have to wake them to nurse at 11 since you're not supposed to let them sleep through a feeding. Then they go down for what I wish was another 2 hr nap at 1-ish. But they usually only stay asleep for about an hour. If I bring them down to their swings then they sometimes sleep there for the other hour, but sometimes they just swing and look around quietly. Then there's usually a catnap around 5.
My ideal routine would be this:
7 wake and eat
9 nap 2 hrs
11 wake and eat
1 nap 2 hrs
3 wake and eat
5 nap about 45 min
5:45 eat
6:30 baths
7 or 7:30 eat... bed
But that second nap is rarely 2 hrs. Should I try to enforce it or go ahead and just get them up for A time? The FAQs suggest that this age could do 2 3hr naps, but how would I do that and not have them miss a feed? If they wake at 7 and have 2 hrs of awake time, then I would have to get them up by 11. So how would a 3 hr nap work? What would a routine look like with a 3 hr nap?
I guess bottom line is - they are sleeping well at night. They still get up once and we do a DF but I'm ok with that. I just want them to get enough day sleep. They do start getting a tad cranky in the evenings sometimes. It's not horrible but it could be better. Sorry for rambling. I hope I made sense!
