it sounds like he is becoming a bit frustrated, Bradley did the same, he wants to do more than what he can! Do you go to any mum and tots groups? these are great, then its not the same toys every day. Try and do singing and interacting things too. Bradley also always preferred wooden spoons and plastic cups than his toys!
How about a door bouncer? That was our best investment ever!
Hope this helps

Hi Sarah

My ds has just turned one - but we noticed a few months ago he seemed to be getting bored with the toys he had.  We've got him toys now which have buttons he can press to make a noise or light up.  He also loves megablocks and sticklebricks.

Also, he was given some "peekaboo" books (you know, lift the flap and there's a picture underneath) and they have been great for when he's winding down before naps.

As for the grumpy, could he be a bit overtired during the day?  If you post his routine we could see if there's anything we could think of that might help.

Thanks for you reply, i think you could be right about the overtired as he is a cat napper, naps at best are only 40mins.  day starts at 7am with breakfast solids and milk.shortnap at about 930, milk at 11. short nap at about midday, lunch at one nap sometimes after, milk at 3, tea at 5, then bathtime at 630 followed by milk and bed at 7.  ha will wake once a night normally around 3am for a feed, then resettles until 7am

How old is your LO?  Is he going through any develomental changes (learning to roll, crawl, etc)?
