Afternoon Delight
« on: February 16, 2007, 04:38:29 am »
Hi All
I have a 7mo who has started using her afternoon nap to practise her new moves in her cot!!  We have been on EASY since about 3 mths, and about 7 days ago she started sleeping through the night!!  I am now finding that her afternoon naps have been affected.  Once she has been put down for the PM nap, she rolls over and spins around in the cot.  She throws all her toys from one end of the cot to the other.  She eventually drifts off to sleep, normally on her side, but wakes up shortly after.  She has always slept on her back up until now.

Our routine is:

7am Eat 200ml
8am Solids
9am Sleep 1.5 - 2hrs

11am Eat 200ml
12noon Solids
1pm Nap 30 mins - 2hrs (last week slept for 3 hrs.  Had to wake her.  Before that 1 - 1.5hrs)

3pm Eat 200ml
4pm Nap in pram - normally falls asleep by 4.45 for 45 mins.  If LO had a good PM nap, then no nap here.
5.30 Solids
6.30 Eat 200ml
7pm Bed - Asleep by 7.30
DF @ 10pm

So some other things that may be affecting her nap is that Tues & Thurs I run errands during her 11 - 1pm awake time, and she sometimes falls asleep in the car, and I have to try to re-settle when we get home.  So is she getting used to her afternoon nap being interupted?  I tried PU/PD today, and got her settled but not back to sleep. Should I continue doing PU/PD?  Should I remove the distractions from her cot?

Its true isn't it, just when you think you have it all sorted, something else comes up!!
All advice welcome  :)

Perhaps she is ready to drop the cat nap and extend awake time? Do you think you could strech out her awake time by 30mins-1hr?

Hi Natasha,
Well its just gone 3.05 and my little Angel is still in dreamland!  Her first nap this morning was only an hour long, but looks like this afternoon nap will stretch out till 3.30!!  Hooray!  I live in QLD on the Sunshine Coast and it is raining here, and we all know how lovely it is to snuggle up when its raining.
Oh, oh, I typed too soon! I can hear her stirring!  Well, its a start anyway :) Thanks for the great advice and congrats on your pregnancy  :)
