She keeps falling to sleep!!
« on: March 05, 2007, 23:35:37 pm »
Hi I'm new to BW and I've been attempting to get my 11 week old daughter on EASY. She's doing so good and her Daddy and I are already getting more sleep. The only problem I'm having is that she wants to go to sleep almost everytime I feed her. (Bottle-Fed totally).  When she goes to sleep during feeds she is pretty much impossible to wake up. I've tried tickling her, bouncing her, patting her, just about everything I could do to keep her awake for her activity but nothing is working. She will sleep an hour and a half to 2 hours most naps. So basically our EASY schedule is ESYA.  I know there is someone out there who has been through this and has a solution, please share it with me.

Oh I have a Touchy/Spirited little girl if that helps.

Thanks so much,
Maile

My son used to fall asleep nursing all the time...nothing I could do would keep him awake.  Are you feeding her when she wakes up and she still falls asleep?  If you can get her to nap without feeding her and then feed her when she wakes up maybe she wouldn't fall asleep?  My son is also spirited...I've only just recently gotten him on a good EASY routine - we fell into the nurse to sleep problem.  When I first tried to get him to nap without nursing it did not go well at all   :'(  But he got used to it eventually and now I never have to feed him to get him to go to sleep.

I hope this helps - if you have any more questions I'll keep checking the post...

Thanks for the reply. I can get her to nap without feeding her. During her first two feeds of the day (1st around 7am and 2nd around 10am) she doesn't fall to sleep. It's just almost all of the ones after that. If we are on schedule I can feed her, let her play for about an hour and then put her in her bed (blocking all external stimulation) and she will "talk" to herself for a while then go to sleep and stay asleep for an hour 1/2 to 2 hours.  So she's doing really good except for the falling to sleep during the mid-day, afternoon and evening feedings.
