10 months today and would like to implement EASY
« on: March 10, 2007, 10:56:39 am »
I was hoping someone would be able to advise on an EASY schedule for me and my baby, he is 10 months old today and unfortunately I only found the Baby Whisperer book a week ago so I'm a bit of a late starter.  Below is a general example of our routine as it is at the moment but his naps aren't great and his night time sleeping is terrible (wakes every hour).  I would also like some advise on self soothing as I think its a big part of our problem as once his sleep cycle reaches the end thats when he wakes whether it be his nap or night time sleeping.  How do I get him to sleep through to a new sleep cycle rather than coming round completely and waking up?

Any help will be much appreciated  :)

7.00am wake and breakfast
7.30am till 9.30am/10.00am (depending) Activity
10.00am till 11am (sometimes only 1/2 hr but generally 45mins) Naps
11.00 till 12 noon Activity
12 noon Lunch
12.30pm till 3pm Activity
3pm/4pm (sometimes only 1/2 hr but generally 45mins) Naps
4pm till 5pm Activity
5pm Dinner
5.30pm till 6.30pm Activity
6.30pm Bath
7pm Wind down with Bottle and storey
7.30pm Bed

Hi and welcome to the BW Boards  ;D

It is never too late to establish EASY, as EASY is a routine and not a schedule so it helps your lo to understand what is coming next.

From the looks of your routine, it looks good, the only problem you seem to be having is with Naps and night time sleep.

The reason you are getting the 45 minute naps is cause your lo is not able to get himself into a deeper sleep.  Generally at around the 30 - 45 minute mark you will find that he will jolt - this is when the body is adjusting into a deeper sleep.  You will find that this is waking him and is the reason that he cannot get back to sleep.

Wake to Sleep is a very good way to help your lo transition into a deeper sleep.  But it will mean that you will have to be in the room when he starts stirring at that mark.  Have a look at this link for some information on W2S.

Once your DS is taking longer naps, you will then be able to adjust your routine accordingly.
