My lo loves to sleep with something close to her face.  I've found it really helps her get to sleep without a dummy.  She either sleeps with a really soft bunny puppet (weird I know, but it feels nice ) or a muslin wrap.  When I go into her after she has fallen asleep I often find her with either of them over her face, esp her eyes.  The room is really dark but maybe she likes it really dark.

Any insights????

ps>  I normally take it off her face when she is asleep as I am worried she will suffocate!

My DD as well. She has a NUNU (little blankie with an animal character head attached at one corner.) I often find her face down on her tummy with her head buried in it.

I think it's a comfort thing.

Aly Mac, I do the same thing...sneak in and take it off a couple mins after I know she's deep asleep. Sometimes I push her head from side to side trying to get her face off the mattress too. Maybe it reminiscent of burying their face in the womb? I don't know!

I wish I knew!

There's been many a time I have to go in, SAS Commando-style, to remove his pillow from covering his entire face :o

I have no idea but Madison does this now with her lovie (fuzzy pink fleece blankie with satin edges). It scares the jeebies outta me so I remove it before I head to bed and its back where it was on her face in the morning  :-\

Yep, us too.  Green satin/fleecy blanket over his face.  Loves it.  Didn't realize it was such a normal thing, but your topic intrigued me, so I had to read.   ;)

I thought it was just my LO who did this...I couldn't take the stress anymore so we switched to a sleeping bag!

Yup. Ella does this too. Always has. I dunno why, though I still sleep with my pillow on top of my head sometimes  :-[ so I just assumed she inherited another wacko mummy characteristic.  ;D

My DD's the same. She has her snugzee comforter (muslin squares with a rabbit head with silky ears) and loves to run it into her face as she falls asleep. She's often rolling onto her tummy as she goes to sleep now, so we don't often find it on her face later at night, but she loves rubbing her muslins against her face. If I'm out and about and she needs to go to sleep and I don't have her rabbit, I just give her a corner of her muslin, and she's happy.
