How much is too much TV time for a one year old?  We have not used the TV much until the last 2 months.  My daughter is now watching 1 to 1.5 hours of TV a day.  I really don't want her to be a TV junky, but with cutting out the morning nap at 11 months, it is really hard to get much done around the house.

My ds in also 1year and I let him watch TV when its on,he does not really seem that much intrested in it.
He will watch for a couple of minutes and then play with his toys.

I like putting on a sing a long DVD while he is playing and I want to do something else,cause then its not so quiet around him.

He likes to watch a fairytale when his sleepy though,makes him more drowsy....

Don't know what's too much tv ???

That's about the same for us.  She is not glued to the TV, but it is on.  She will play for a while and watch for a while.  When we put her in the jumperoo with Baby Einstein on she will watch for 30 minutes straight.  Maybe I just worry too much, well I know I do!

During the week when it's just me and dd, I have the radio on during the day. DD watches 30 mins of tv after dinner, before her bath and it's always The Backyardigans, which she loves. It works well for us, as she knows that afterwards it's time to go upstairs for bath and bed.
At the weekends dh has the tv on all the time which drives me bonkers, and it's always sport! dd doesn't watch it though, except to point at the rugby/ football/ cricket every so often and shout "ball".  ;D

Kathryn...have you ever found that the radio in the background is too much stimulation. We have jazz on all day every day - even during DS's naps (very quietly and with a fan too). Sometimes I wonder if it's too much for him. It doesn't seem to bother him...maybe b/c we've been doing this since he was born! DH is a musician so he wants Tanner exposed to good music!

Tanner is only 5 mo old though...not a year like your LO.

Sometimes when he eat dinner we'll have the news on TV and he'll seem to watch it. Is he too young for even a little bit?

The radio station I have on is a mixture of kind of easy- listening pop music from 60s to current day. It's fairly easy on the ears (Radio2 for you UK girls! dh says I'm not "down with the kids" but I think Terry W rocks!) anyway.... and I have the volume fairly low- in fact if I want to listen to the news and dd is chattering away I actually have to turn it up! At lunchtime they have a debate programme which I can't bear so I put Classic FM on for some soothing tunes. I don't have it on upstairs (although she could sleep through an earthquake) and if she is particularly tired some days I will turn it off. I know what you mean about the music though; my college degree is in music and we already think dd will be musical, she can sing the first line of the theme tune from her TV show already! (clearly just the tune, not words  ;))
I didn't like dh having the tv on when she was as young as your lo but am not so bothered as she gets older, as she doesn't really seem interested in the stuff he's watching, it's just the kids stuff that catches her eye, with the bright colours etc, and I don't have that on. If it's just a few minutes here and there for your ds I wouldn't worry.
