sleep, awake, sleep, all content!

Our angel Lo is 5 months, and i am not sure this is even an issue, but i would love some thoughts and feedback.

He is on a 4 hour routine (up at 7am, and asleep by 7pm), the first nap sleeping around 2 hours (give or take 15 min). the second nap he occassionally sleeps for 45 min (always if he is in a different location, which makes perfect sense), and then is happy to staying lying there sucking his thumb. this is part of the problem, is that he is so content to just ly there, that i am not sure how often or for how long he does this, but my guess is no longer than 40 min, and then he falls back asleep for anywhere from 20-90min depending on how long he was awake for. he is such a happy baby, and never cries out for me when he wakes, so it is hard for me to judge how long he has been up for.

has anyone else experienced this???
thoughts very much appreciated,
thanks, nilly

You lucky thing. My DD wakes up and screams until I pick her up whether she is tried or not!  More often than not, I get her up and then she is rubbing her eyes 5 mins later grrrr!

Hi,

My lo used to wake up from her naps so quietly and happily that I wouldn't know she was awake!  It made it hard for me to judge when to put her asleep for the next nap because I really didn't know how long she had been awake.  Anyway, she never went back to sleep on her own though - although maybe she would have if I would have tried to let her!  Now she wakes up happy and crying, depending, although now when she wakes happy, she makes noise to get picked up (she's 5 months).  But she does the exact thing you described during the early morning hours, where she wakes up at around 5 am and plays like crazy, and then puts herself back to sleep.  Anyway, it's kind of hard to know how to help her get the sleep she needs when she's a sporatic sleeper, as it sounds like yours naps, but at least they are happy and independent!  So, I guess I count my blessings!
