Older Toddler Sleep Question
« on: April 18, 2007, 11:39:50 am »
OK, so my daughter has decided to start missing some naps here and there the past 2 weeks. She really needs her rest. She is 2 1/2. Do you guys wake them up in the morning? she just started sleeping later and I don't know if I should wake her like at 7 more so she will go down better. Here is our approx normal schedule unless she decided she isn't going down. But if she doesn't nap she doesn't get upset when she goes down just talks for about an hour then starts yelling mommy!!

7:30 Wake (I usually end up waking her up sometimes, maybe I shoud do 7?)
12:00 lunch
1:00-3 Nap - I do wake her up after 2 hours for sure
8p - down for the night

I have to wake Alex but sometimes it's not until 7.30am but it doesn't affect her naps.
If Alex is messing about with her naps and refuses them then I ensure that she has at least 45mins quiet time and then I do a super early bedtime.  She usually gets herself back in a few days.

On normal days  ;), I usually let dd sleep an extra 30 min if the night before she has some nw to protect her naptime and bedtime.  However, with dd being sick and cutting her last 3 molars for the last three weeks, I let her sleep as much as she wants right now.  Our day used to start @ 7 am, nap @ 1 pm-2:30 pm and bed @ 8:30 pm.  Now our day starts anywhere from 6:30-8 am and bedtime @ 8-9pm with naps thrown in between.  It isn't the best as dd used to be so regular but it will pass.   ;)

I do pretty much similar to you but I have cut nap time down to about an hour sometimes an hour and ten mins maximum and dd has to be up by 2.30 to try and protect bedtime. I usually wake her if she is not awake though when I go in her head pops up straight away so I presume she is awake. She sings at nap times and at bed time, the longer version is bed time where she can go on for up to an hour. So our schedule is as follows
7.30 Up
13.00 Nap- sleeps between 1.15 and 1.30
14.30 Up
19.30 Bed. Sleeps usually around 8.20 though has gone close to 9 the odd night.

On the odd day she doesn't nap and it's usually due to the fact that we are out and about she gets quiet time with a dvd and bedtime is 7.00pm. On these nights there is no singing just off to sleep usually til 7/7.30

Thanks I appreciate your guys feedback. We are back to normal. I just keep wondering if she is trying to sometimes phase it out. So it looks like I am about doing like you guys which is good to hear. Thanks!
