Amount of sleep required for 14mth old
« on: April 15, 2007, 20:06:10 pm »
Hi there

We appear to have gone from 2 sleeps to 1 most days bit of a transition - just wondering if with one sleep she is having enough - average 11 hrs at night with a 1.5hr day nap totalling 12.5hrs, sometimes 13hrs.  Is this enough or should I be trying to aim for 2 sleeps and trying to get 14hrs??
She seems to be going from 7am awake to 1pm which seems very long to me!! Then has a nap and bed by 7pm  so awake shorter time PM.

Thank you,

13 hrs is the av once they transition to 1 nap. I would bring the nap forward to 12.30pm thou cause 6hrs is a little too much for a 14mo (mine could only do 5hrs at that age).

She is pretty close to the average.  LIke Isabella&Jasmine's mum says, bring the nap up a little and she might nap for 2-2 1/2 hours.

Good luck!

I also meant to say that DS is 22 months and has a hard time staying up till 1PM.  He gets up at 7AM and goes down for a nap at 12:30PM at the latest.

Thanks guys for getting back to me.
Today she didnt go down till 1.30pm!! I tried her earlier but she screamed....SHe had 1half hrs again.
She does yawn around 10.30am/11am but I have been unsuccessful getting her to sleep then too. Will try for 12ish again though as I agree her morning seems too long.
